Iron fist is by far the best, you should have faster inf if using it though. Use other strategies instead.

Let's be honest here.
LB's only bonuses are in critical chance & viewing range.
The really shiny side of LB is the lack of other downgrades, like range or defense. But it comes at a cost- literally. LB is expensive. Several upgrades exist to lessen the blow, and make LB a decent enough strategy. However, again, bonus in critical chance. As I understand it, critical hit 'usually' occurs 5% of the time, according to the FAQ. You will often have a 5% chance of getting 10 critical hit in a strategy with no other practical bonus.

I really think it's not worth using most of the time. If you're in a world game, LB has more uses. The cost of things really changes when you get past the first 10 turns and you already own most of Asia or the Middle east and your economy is stable.

However, in anything small enough LB is far too vulnerable. Because it mandates wealthy countries, your opponent will do his or her best to abuse it.

Iron Fist in contrast has an upgrade that is very useful. HP. Hit points are fairly important, after a few are lost your unit dies off. HP upgrade also means that larger stacks of infantry can take a large beating and still most units will survive the battle. I don't think it's the actual battle itself that counts, more so that surviving it means that IF can dish out reinforcements by the time you're barely killing their first stacks. By that point, an IF player should've expanded well beyond it's general area.

However, IF has a short range. IF is crippled in world games and several people define IF as the "slower version of PD". While LB is countered by stealing it's more wealthy countries/cities, IF can be countered by surrounding it and eventually overcoming it's strengthened HP.

It's up to you to decide which strategy is better for you. IF can't really meet the vast distances in world games, and LB can't rise to the occasion under constraint. I'm sure the creative use of either strategy will be the deciding factor.

^ I see it as best to use spam inf for more critical chance or militia for cities near shore.
