Messenger / friends / channels

I'd love to see a friend system ingame in which one can send messages to people outside the current game (eg. someone in the lobby), and maybe even sent messages to offline friends. I can imagine this is far out of the actual scope of (game!) development and too much hassle to implement, however.

Also, the creation of channels could be interesting for some lingual sub-communities that mess up general/lobby chat with stuff little people understand. This way, you can actually enforce English in public chats and point people that want to use other languages to private channels.
Just a thought.

We have 2 things planned that will affect the chat: "Clans" - permanent alliances between players, with own channel; and Rooms in the lobby - once we have more players we will split lobby into rooms, each with own channel.

Nice! I thought of something clannish as well. I put my ideas in a seperate Clan Wars topic.
