Welcome to the Adopt A Newb Program! This is a program where players new to the game can ask for a help, and for their own personal mentor to guide them through AW, and teach them the all the stuff they need to know from tactics & strategies to proper etiquette.

After some overwhelming support for the program in the suggestions/ideas part of the forum Soul decided to take on leading this initiative himself with permission from the person who originally came up with the idea, tesla. Unfortunately, Soul has taken leave from atWar and I volunteered to continue what he bravely started for the community.

You must be at least rank 7 to be a mentor, and no higher than rank 6 to be a newb.
Who runs the program now?
Myself, Madara is the current leader and person running the program. Along with Madara there is Marcus Cicero & Mr_Own_U who recruit mentors & Newbs and are also Mentors themselves.
Applying to be a mentor:
Please PM either Madara, Marcus Cicero or Mr_Own_U with a formal request ,you don't need much when it comes to requirements, but you have to be active and willing to co-operate with a new player and understand that they may not understand things right off the get go (you know be patient with them and don't scorn them for making mistakes). People who are rank 7+ and who have made it clear that they are willing to be serious about this will be accepted. Along with the message if you don't mind telling me your playing style, what type of player you are and what you're favorite strategy is so I can post that information along with your name so Newbs can make a special request for a mentor with a certain expertise. I'd also liked to see you play so I know you actually have the skill level to be a mentor. If I have already seen you play and deem you worthy you should be fine, however if the opposite is true you'll have to prove me wrong and show me that you are skilled enough to truly mentor a new player.
Applying to be a Newb:
Well like before, there much isn't much required to be a Newb. I just ask that you are willing to learn and that you do respect what your mentor has to tell you, I know at first you might think what they are telling you is stupid but trust me once you start trying the stuff you'll realize more likelier than not they aren't wrong but actually telling you things that can help. I ask that people above rank 6 to not ask to be a Newb. If you wish to apply you can just leave a post, and I will work on getting you a mentor, if I can't find one immediately I will temporarily mentor you myself until I find you a permanent one.
Newbs can opt out of the program at any time, do not worry. The idea is that a mentor will be there for you until you reach rank 7. That doesn't mean you still can't talk to your mentor and have him/her give you advice, I'm sure they'd be willing to help you even after you've finished the program.
Information:
Q:Can a mentor have two mentees?
A:Yes a mentor can have two mentees if both the mentor and his/her's current mentee agree to letting a third person in.
Q:Can I continue the program past rank 6 and into rank 7?
A:Yes as long as your mentor is okay with it, if he/she is not and you feel like you still need the support of a mentor please contact someone in management so we can arrange on getting you a mentor who is rank 9+.
Q:Is there anything you're hiding?
A:Yes there is a reserve mentors list of people who have asked to be mentors however I do not think they are skilled enough or active enough yet to be full on mentors. The people who fall into this category are kept on a list only to be seen by management and may be called upon if necessary to fill in a mentoring role.
Complaints:
If you are a Newb and have any complaints about your mentor, or have any issues or questions please PM or PR me when I am online. My local time is GMT -5. I tend to be on during the day, and early evening. I'm a stay at home writer but I go to sleep early…or I'm with friends/gf so yeah. If you are a mentor and have a complaint, it's the same deal please find a way to contact me. If it is to withdraw from the program and not be a mentor anymore it better be for a legit reason, because I don't want mentors to just be abandoning the people they are supposed to help and teach.
Recruitment:
I am recruiting people who will help run the program with me and act as temporary mentor when a mentor cannot be found immediately or when a replacement is needed to take over mentoring for a short period of time (in the case a mentor has to pull out of the program for legitimate reasons). Like before please contact me and give me a detailed message of why you want to run the program with me, how active you'll be, and what you intend to do within the program when it comes to management.
Mentors List:
- Marcus Cicero - Enjoys using a defensive approach using PD and IMP with Turkey, UK and Spain along with being well acquainted with game mechanics. (logistics and unit control)
- Mr_Own_U - All around powerful player. Well known leader & mentor who specializes in using Sky Menace (SM), Perfect Defense (PD) and Imperialists (IMP) with Ukraine, Turkey and France.
- General Kratore - Likes to use Sky Menace, Imperialist, and Desert Storm among other strategies. He had given me five strategies he could teach but I decided to list only the first three, the main three for now. He didn't tell me this exactly but I know from experience and what people tell me he likes to rush.
- b0nker2 - Likes to use Imperialist, Perfect Defense and Naval Commander. Has made it very clear he will only mentor someone who is active and willing to learn, not someone who will come on only once a month. From personal experience I can tell you his playing style is bonkers.
- joedtaxi - Likes to use Sky Menace, Blitzkrieg, and Perfect Defense. Considers himself to be a very aggressive player.
- Madara - Likes using a variety of strategies and tactics, favorite strategies being Perfect Defense and Sky Menace. Likes 1v1s & 2v2s. Good at assessing situations. Humble and kind to all of atWar. Dislikes scenarios.
- Abercrombie - Uses a variety of strategies from NC & GC to Pd & SM and very versatile. Well rounded and quite talented.
- AlexMeza - N/A (I will provide more information when given)
- BertanK - Likes to use Perfect Defense and Sky Menace. Does not rush, likes to slow-roll his opponents instead.
- Bellerophon - N/A (I will provide more information when given)
- Freeland - N/A (I will provide more information when given)
- RuiPedro - N/A (I will provide more information when given)
- Eagle - N/A (I will provide more information when given)

Sounds great! Been eagerly awaiting a response, even took to stalking you in the main room for a little while  Beginner room is getting a little boring with the mainly 50k games and my transport upgrades probably being OP compared to their upgrades in those scenarios, doesn't teach you much.
