Sky Menace Ukraine opening

I was just wondering what other peoples opening country choices were for SM Ukraine since I'm new to it myself.

Well a common counter for it is Turkey.

Are you asking what's a good country to counter it, or where's a good place to start with it?
A good place to start with it would be Turkey IMO. I see so many SM players start from there. There was one guy though who took Russia: Central and we had around a 3 month war before I was like "Screw this, I don't want to spend an hour fighting you." The problem there was, we both had 50K, so I couldn't starve him of money. He could just keep throwing units at me, but so could I.

Anyways.
In that war, no one really was winning or losing, and I started from Germany in that game, but also I did have 50K to start.
I'd suggest a place with a lot of recruits to start, because if they don't have the recruits then they can't use it to spam you with bombers.

Nah I'd say Russia Central, Russia Northwest, Turkey(or Greece), Hungry, Serbia, and Belarus

Well knowing me, I try not to just use all my money to expand then have nothing left for defense, so that's why I didn't suggest as many countries. Go for the good ones, then defend them.

I would go straight for Russia blog since its far away form the players

The strength to SM Ukraine is leveraging its early reinforcements and bucket loads of cash to sieze the few rich areas in the East. Once the money makers are taken then you're unstoppable as you can outproduce anything in the West.

A few pointers:
Don't bother walling anything where you're not likely to get attacked, waste of reinforcements.
The two key cities to take are St. Petersburg and Moscow. Everything else is optional but the 8 pop and extremely high income make these two invaluable.
Get full central ASAP. I usually do this full turn to get maximum income from the strongest country in the East right away, but this is up to you.
Use infantry to attack, if you've got Infantry range you can walk your Kharkiv infantry into Moscow.
Don't be tempted to go for Turkey, it's income is awful given the maintainance of militia. It's a massive money sink and you should avoid it unless you really need it or want to stop someone else getting it.
Grab Finland, you can go for full Finland first turn if you've got Infantry range (highly recommended).

For the love of god I cannot understand why people go for things like Poland and Belarus, in the long run these are not the countries you need. You need money, not reinforcements.

If you have so much money as SM Ukraine that you can use all of Turkeys reinforcements then you're using some kind of hack. Hold Ankara, wall it up to the max and autoproduce militia by all means to stop someone else getting any use out of it and do the same with Athens but you won't be making nearly enough money to utilise the south properly.

Consider that you have both money AND all the reinforcements you'll ever need in the north, why would you just chose reinforcements in the south?

From my experience taking both Russia Central and Northwest is a must. Everything else is really based on preference/your opponents position.
