If we have to invest more heavily in one it should be the navy, we can blockade their trade ports and slow down their arrival. Plus what if we need transport for our legions?

Since Carthage outnumbers our fleet completely we should instead focus on ground troops and invade Sicilia. Then we spam navies from Sicilia and win.

since we rp ancient rome, i believe there is more suitable name for soldiers than knights. knights are from middle ages, while rome had hundred of cavalry and infantry names. also carthage troops, instead legions it can be mercenaries, instead fleet it can be flotilla or something, so we can make clear distinction between friendly and enemy troops, ask aetius about the names, he made ancient scenarios.

Can someone shed some light on how we can get richer?

For rome to become richer they need to get more provinces (by being victorious in wars), players can donate to the roman treasury during their revenue turn (you get popularity by donating certain amount)

When a war is won, loot is also generated.

For a player to make individual money they need to become governors of provinces, accept bribes, have more "knights" equites, selling equites.
