Hello fellow AW fans, we've got the most excellent update for you today!

  • Battle mechanics have been completely reworked. In the new system, Attack and Defence represent the maximum amount of damage you deal to the opponent. Attack and defence are now executed simultaneosly, so you're guaranteed to deal some damage in a battle. Units now have Hit points - so damage is applied directly to Hit points, and if the unit runs out of them, it gets destroyed. The remaining damage is then transferred to the next unit.

    So, for example, 1 Tank (9 HP) attacks 1 Infantry (8 HP) and 1 Militia (6 HP). Tank deals 6 damage (attacking), Infantry deals 4 damage (defending). Now Tank has 5 HP left and Infantry 2 HP. Tanks now deals 3 damage and Infantry also 5. Tank dies, Infantry dies, Militia takes 1 damage, but survives to fight another day. After the battle all HP is restored for surving units.

    All unit stats remained the same, plus the addition of Hit points. The balance also remained the same, meaning that the winner would most probably be the same in most battles - the difference is that the winner is now more likely to have more casualties.


  • ARB chance is now fixed at 30% and will not vary. All upgrades dealing with ARB chance have been refunded.

  • Battle phase has been reworked with more dynamic battles and the new battle list (it now shows separate units).

  • AW now has music, 10 awesome tracks for your enjoyment! Volume can be adjusted in personal settings.

  • Mods can now change options for any game.

  • Upgrades and strategies for Hit points, plus an awesome new secret unit will be added very soon!

    What is the music from? Maybe Amok composed it? It would be cool if we could skip tracks back and forth too

    Music comes from here: http://www.opuzz.com/royalty-free-music-cd.asp?prodid=2957. You can sort of skip to the next random track if you adjust your music volume slightly.

    Amok and Ivan Iam loving this! The new battle system works 100% better in my eyes!

    So is there any random aspect to battles now or will results always be the same if the same units are fighting? Also something I noticed is now if you drag directly from a city it will take militia when it used to exclude them, in my opinion the old way made moving troops much easier.

    It's still random (damage can be 1 to max. attack/defence). We haven't changed anything with dragging troops, as far as I know.

    It's most likely a bug then with everything that was changed but there have been complaints on global and it definitely has changed to no longer leave militia behind.

    I like the new game mechanics, they are less random.

    The crossed attacks need some more testing, but it seems ok. Be ready to nerve the stealth units (marines, subs and stealth) one more time.

    I too like how the new system is more reliant on skill than luck. Great soundtrack, very fitting.
